Christian colleges across the United States offer a traditional college experience leading to degrees from the associates to the doctoral level. With programs of study ranging from accounting to medicine and beyond, Christian colleges provide an academic and cultural experience equivalent to secular state and private colleges. Christian universities typically function just like their non-Christian counterparts. Most are fully accredited, offering diplomas and degrees that are recognized everywhere.

Larger schools offer sports and athletics as well as a full range of extracurricular activities. Courses of study and majors are available in most subjects offered by colleges everywhere, but additional options for ministry study and courses related to Bible study are also available. Christian students can find community and support at most colleges and universities. But Christian universities offer a college experience that integrates spirituality and education on all levels.

Here are five good reasons to consider a Christian University:

1. Christian Universities Integrate Faith and Education.

In Christian colleges, the connection between faith and study is seamless. Biblical principles and perspectives are applied to all subjects and areas of study, with opportunities for discussion and analysis in class and outside the classroom through projects and study groups. Faculty members at Christian colleges are qualified educators in their field, but also bring a dedication to Christian values and principles to their subjects.

2. Classes Tend to Be Smaller

Christian universities generally tend to have smaller enrollments than secular colleges, so this means that classes are smaller. This allows more contact between students and teachers and makes it possible for students to get help with problems quickly and easily. The smaller class size also fosters relationships and connections that go beyond the classroom.

3. Christian Universities Foster a Sense of Community

Christian universities encourage connection through activities, church services, clubs and projects. Because students gathering at a Christian college share beliefs, values and interests, they can find support and friendship in many ways, both in the classroom and outside it. Some colleges sponsor retreats and offer opportunities for community projects and service activities which encourage students to get involved and apply what they learn.

4. Christian Universities Offer Support and Connection After Graduation

Because students at a Christian university become part of a larger faith community, they create connections that last a lifetime, with career advice, mentoring and job-hunting help from faculty, staff and peers. Uniquely though because of their faith community connections, students have the opportunity to further develop relationships with people in the community for further study, internships, and work.

5. Christian Universities Reinforce Moral and Ethical Behavior

Because Christian universities attract students interested in integrating faith and education, students there share key values and expectations for behavior. This creates a safe place for students to enjoy college life in a positive atmosphere supported by Biblical principles. Activities and events are conducted from a Biblical perspective, free of the negative aspects of secular college life.

Although a Christian university functions in many ways like its secular counterpart, these schools offer a unique college experience that brings a biblical perspective to all aspects of college life, with benefits that can last a lifetime.
